Let It Bee – A Charming Bee-Themed Summer Tablescape

There is something so cheerful about bees. They remind us to slow down, appreciate nature, and enjoy the simple beauty found in our own backyards. For this "Let It Bee" tablescape, I created a sunny outdoor setting on the deck just outside our study, where the soothing sound of the fountain and warm summer sunshine make every meal feel like a little escape. 

 The inspiration for this table began with the delightful MacKenzie-Childs Bee planter, which makes such a whimsical centerpiece. I filled it with a fresh bouquet bursting with golden sunflowers, crisp white mums, sprays of purple statice, delicate baby's breath, and other seasonal blooms. Sitting sweetly in front of the arrangement is an adorable little bee girl, adding just the right touch of personality and charm.

The table is dressed in classic black-and-white buffalo check, one of my favorite patterns because it never goes out of style. The coordinating seat cushions continue the look and create a casual, welcoming place to linger over lunch or dinner.

Each place setting begins with a gold bee charger, adding a rich layer of texture and sparkle. A sleek black dinner plate provides a dramatic backdrop for the beautiful Williams Sonoma bee salad plate, whose delicate botanical design ties perfectly into the garden theme. Perched on top is a tiny gold bee accent, adding a whimsical finishing touch.

To soften the setting, I tucked a white linen napkin embroidered with a golden bee beneath the plates. The embroidery is such a lovely detail and echoes the bee motif without overwhelming the table. Completing each place setting are charming bee-embossed glasses, whose golden bee catches the sunlight beautifully.

One of my favorite features of this space is the nearby fountain, complete with its smiling sun face, above the fountain.  The gentle sound of trickling water creates a peaceful backdrop while the flowers sway in the summer breeze. It is the perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely meal, sip a cool drink, and simply relax.

Nature has a wonderful way of reminding us to appreciate life's simple pleasures. Whether it's the buzz of a bee, the beauty of fresh flowers, or the peaceful sound of water nearby, this little corner of our home encourages us to slow down and enjoy the moment.

While this tablescape celebrates the beauty of bees, it also serves as a gentle reminder of just how important these tiny pollinators are. Bees play a vital role in our ecosystem, helping pollinate nearly 75% of the world's flowering plants and about one-third of the crops we eat. From colorful gardens to the fruits and vegetables on our tables, so much of nature depends on their tireless work.

Unfortunately, bee populations have declined in many areas due to habitat loss, pesticides, disease, and climate change. Planting bee-friendly flowers, reducing pesticide use, and providing a welcoming habitat are simple ways we can all help support these remarkable little creatures.

As I sat on the deck listening to the gentle splash of the fountain, surrounded by bright sunflowers and cheerful bee accents, I couldn't help but appreciate the incredible role bees play in making our gardens—and our lives—a little more beautiful. Sometimes the smallest creatures make the biggest difference.

So whether you're gathering friends around the table or simply enjoying a quiet summer afternoon outdoors, take a moment to admire these amazing pollinators and all they do.

So today, my advice is simple...Let it Bee.
