Fancy Molded Butter

When you entertain, it's all about the experience, table setting, great food and ambiance.
I love getting creative with my tables.  Molding butter is so easy and  makes your guests feel like you labored for hours.  It's the little details that matter. Feel free to use all different shapes and sizes.  You can find almost anything in molds
It's almost too cute to cut into.

Egg Butter mold
I used my Mastrad Paris egg mold to create this larger butter egg  mold.  Get creative and use different shapes.  Valentine's Day would be perfect with heart shaped butter.  Turkeys for Thanksgiving and snowflakes for Christmas.
It comes with three different egg sizes.  These are wonderful  for creating lovely chocolate eggs.

Make individual butter pats for each plate.  I borrowed my Mom's silicone mold, which consists of individual bunny faces, baskets and egg.
The butter lambis a traditional butter sculpture accompanying the Easter meal for many RussianSlovenian and Polish Catholics.
I made this small lamb for the table. I used this mold from Amazon.
Make sure your butter is room temperature.  I found an easier way to fill the molds. I melt the butter in the microwave first.  You want a creamy pudding consistency.  Make sure there are no lumps! After filling the molds,  tap them to receive any air bubbles and freeze them, and they will pop out easily.

They are sold already sculpted or you can use a mold or make it free form.

Traditional Easter Wooden Butter Lamb Mold

Use a 3 D  lamb candy mold.  It can stand on a plate.  Be sure to watch the video to see how it is made.
Here's video on how to make a butter lamb.

Make your Easter dinner extra special.

  1. Last year I almost signed up for a course on making free-form butter lambs (I kind of regret not taking it now). To make the lamb's coat, butter is put through a ricer!

  2. I love the idea of making butter molds for entertaining. I think I like the small individual types best. The lamb butter mold in the video seems too large and for some reason, I don't like the idea of everyone at the dinner table scraping and destroying this beautiful creation - let alone having to "share" it!

    1. Thanks Gail. The individual ones are so easy and quick to make. Would you feel the same way if the lamb was chocolate? LOL

  5. All of the molds are lovely, Linda. I must admit to being partial to the sweet lamb one, though. Silicone is a wonderful material for molds. It releases the product so easy. I hope you have a wonderful Easter! ♥
