Memories of Sweet Lacy

More tears and a heavy heart to say good-bye to our sweet Lacy, a beautiful white Miniature Schnauzer.  Lacy was sadly declining and at 14 plus years, it was time to lay her to rest.
No more suffering and worrying about her hurting herself.  She was losing weight, had arthritis, had doggie dementia and was in diapers.  Lacy couldn't hear anymore and she was losing her sight, along with coordination.

Lacy is at peace now.  She has joined our  Sasha at Rainbow Bridge.
Lacy and  Sasha.
Here's Lacy as an adorable little puppy.  She was the most obedient dog and very sweet.
She didn't wander off either, however she was a loner.  Our other dogs wanted to sit with us, but Lacy would stay for a few minutes and then go to her own space.

Puppies are the cutest ever.  We got Lacy when she was 8 weeks old.  Sasha and her were very close. It was painful to lose them both. within 3 months of each other. They were a duo.

My granddaughter Marissa and Lacy together at Christmas years ago.
Lacy was such a sweet girl.....She also loved to go on Gator rides with my husband.  There was something like the wind in their faces and looking out for critters.  She was an excellent swimmer too. Lacy also didn't mind being dressed up for Halloween.  She won about three contests.  She was featured in the newspaper too.

Here's Lacy and Chloe, Dante's Mom.

I will leave you with the sweetest picture of Lacy and Sasha together. We have cried rivers of tears and they both will be dearly missed.
Rest in peace sweet Lacy.  We shall miss you!  Now, our sweet Lacy is chasing butterflies, alongside Sasha at Rainbow Bridge. Thank you for visiting....I appreciate all of your comforting words and thoughts.  Hugs.

  9. Oh I am so so sorry! It is so hard to loose our fur babies! I guess we do the best we can to let them go to get away from their bodily pain. Here is a virtual hug for you. I cried for two weeks after losing our Mikey. I think tears are good therapy. Just cry as long as you need to. Our furbabies give us unconditional love...and that is why we love them so deeply.

I know both Chloe and Lacy were part of your lives a long time and it hurts to lose them. Take care and be at peace knowing you gave them a wonderful life to live!

  17. Oh! My heart is just breaking for you. That is the worst part of having a pet-losing them. It just leaves a hole in your heart and in your family. However, I am glad you 'let her go". It is so sad to see owners that can't bear to let their pets go and they suffer needlessly because of that fact. Our last little Misty-they said - we can give her a few more weeks but we can't tell if she will be in pain, or not-she was not eating so I knew she was already in pain. So hard to make those decisions but I let her go home to The Rainbow Bridge that day. So, I fully understand your heartbreak. You are in my prayers. xo Diana

  18. Dog's Purpose? (from a 6-year-old).

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old
Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife Lisa,
and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they
    were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family
we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the
euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be
good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as
though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker 's
family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for
the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on.
Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any
difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker's
Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are
    shorter than human lives.
Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, ''I know why.''

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next
stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation. It has
changed the way I try and live.

He said,''People are born so that they can learn how to live a good
life -- like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?''
    The Six-year-old continued,

''Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long.''

    Live simply.

    Love generously.

    Care deeply.

    Speak kindly.

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy.

    Take naps.

    Stretch before rising.

    Run, romp, and play daily.

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

    Be loyal.

Never pretend to be something you're not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle
    them gently.

ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY!

  22. Such a beautiful post and tribute to Lacy and Sasha too ~ that last photo made my eyes leak! I understand the pain and I'm so sorry for your loss. Such a short window of time to lose both of them. It really is the kindest thing one can do for them and not have them in pain or stressed. When they stop eating, that's the time.

Sending you hugs, peace and love!
