Memories of Our Sweet Sasha

With a heavy heart,  I am sad to say our beloved Minature Schnauzer Sasha has passed. She began her journey to Rainbow Bridge on Sunday afternoon.  We couldn't bear to think she may be suffering.

We had tried giving her fluid therapy everyday at home...I was cooking everything I could possibly think of to try to get her to eat.  She had lost her appetite and started to get weaker.

We knew it was time.  This was a very difficult decision to make.  We both have never experienced this.  We knew we were giving her the best gift ever....She was never going to get better and she had lived a very long life.

Four months shy of being 16 years old.    We have cried for days....Healing will come in time, but we will have  her  precious memories forever.

Please indulge me....Most of us forge an intense bond with our beloved pets.   They offer us unconditional love and they overlook any flaws we may have.

There is nothing like coming home, and your pets greeting you happily at the door....so happy...tails wagging....it's like they haven't seen you in a very long time. They are a part of our family and we are take great pride with them.

We got Sasha when she was 8 weeks old.  She was my husband's first dog ever and she brought us so much joy.  We had a New Years party in 2000 and Sasha was right there.  She was so darn cute and tiny.  Everyone took turns holding her.

Just look at the cute little puppy face!

I know most of us do silly things with our pets.

Sasha was my shadow...She was by my side after my surgeries, and  chemo treatments.
This picture is was taken in 2000, when I had my first cancer and chemo.

Sasha has travelled, rode in the gator, spent time on a farm, swam in our pool, plus so many other outings and activities. She was the sweetest dog with an even temperament.

Rest in peace sweet Sasha.  We shall miss you! Now, our sweet Sasha is chasing butterflies at Rainbow Bridge. Thank you for visiting....I appreciate all of your comforting words and thoughts.  Hugs...

  25. So sweet, your tribute. Many of us have been there, and it was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. It's OK to cry, you know. 16 years is a very long time to have a dog-baby, so you were extra lucky in that regard. I hope you are feeling better soon.

  31. Linda,
Such a heartfelt and lovely tribute to Sasha. I know the agony of an illness and the treatments that accompany it, to have this precious girl right beside you eased the pain, and frustration. There is no bond quite as endearing as that of dog and it's person.
Wishing you comfort and peace throughout this journey.
    Love,
    Jemma

We have two cats that are rather old.

  37. She had an amazing Life lived in full with probably the best non-dog beings on Earth. Plus the charming home... in fact, had she had Instagram she would have been one of those bragging b**** that can't stop talking about the wonders of Life on Earth.
Now she's in Heaven telling all others about you, your amazing husband and her dog-pals, how you're fretting with her Interplanetary Trip and driving everyone crazy with her pampered ways.
:) Humor me and Smile Dear Linda. And live the life she must have been asking for when you were hit by those unfortunate, and unfair, bumps on the road.
    Hugging you,
    T

  38. Oh, I missed this post about your precious Sasha. So sorry for your huge loss. I relate to all of your thoughts here and send hugs. Just had our schnauzer to the vet last night. He is being treated for an intestinal parasite. he experienced this in December also. I think it's because he licks his paws frequently. Now we are waiting for the meds to kick in and help him feel better.

  39. Dear Linda,
I am so sorry to read of your losing your dear Sasha. I watched the video and what a beautiful little trio they are. I'm sure Lacy and Chloe have been lost without her too. It is so very hard for so very long to say goodbye to a dear one.

I remember what a blessing my blog friends were to me when we had to come to the same decision with our 15 1/2 yr. old dachshund Penelope a couple of years ago.
The video was almost like looking at our dear grand-dogs, Maddie a black mini-Schnauzer too, and her younger sister Zoe, from the same mother. They truly are dear and when they visit us a few times a year, I'm always amazed at how very smart they are.

Thank you so much for visiting me at my new blog. It was great to reconnect and once again find you.

  40. So sorry to hear about Sasha's passing. Our fur babies are just that our babies and members of our family.
My heart hurts for you and your family. My 18 year sheltie passed in October 2014. It was the hardest decision to make but we felt he was suffering..
    Hugs
